Test your webcam online

See your camera picture, current resolution and frame rate before a call. Free, no sign-up and no installation needed for this test.

Your preview appears hereNo recording · No microphone access

The camera starts only when you click. The preview stays in your browser and stops when you leave this tab.

This test does not upload images, record video or request your microphone. Frame rate depends on lighting, the browser and the device; preview FPS is not an OBS or video-call benchmark.

How to check your camera

  1. Click Start camera test and allow camera access in the browser prompt.
  2. Choose another camera if your device has several. Look for a clear, moving picture and adjust your lighting.
  3. Read the current capture resolution and frame rate. Click Stop camera when finished.

What the results mean

Resolution and camera-reported FPS describe the current browser capture settings, not the camera’s maximum capability. Approximate preview FPS measures frames presented by this browser. It can be lower in poor light or on a busy device. A dash means a value is unavailable or has not been measured yet.

A moving picture confirms that this browser can access the selected camera. It does not confirm that OBS or Zoom can use it, measure network latency, or test your microphone. Stop the test before opening another camera application.

Use a phone as your Windows webcam

Need a better camera for your computer? VCam by EDDY connects an iPhone or Android camera to a Windows 10/11 PC over local Wi-Fi. Install the receiver on Windows and open the phone link in Safari or Chrome. VCam is free, with no ads or watermark; a separate microphone is needed.

Camera test questions

Does the test upload or record my video?

No. The preview stays on this device. The test does not record video or request a microphone. The website separately counts aggregate page views and download clicks; see Product and privacy.

Can I test an iPhone or Android camera?

Yes, when your mobile browser supports camera access. Try Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android. This local test does not pair the phone with a computer.

Can I test a virtual webcam?

A virtual webcam can be tested if the browser exposes it in the camera selector. For VCam, install the Windows receiver and connect your phone first. Support depends on the browser.

Why does the camera stop when I change tabs?

The test deliberately releases the camera when the page becomes hidden. Return to the tab and start it again when needed.
