Use an iPhone or Android camera in Microsoft Teams on Windows
Connect VCam, select your phone camera in Teams and test a separate microphone. Includes desktop, browser and managed-device permission checks.

For Teams, first connect the phone to the VCam Windows receiver, then select it as the meeting camera. If the receiver has no live picture, fix the phone or connection before changing meeting settings.
Prepare the receiver
Install VCam for Windows 10/11 x64, connect both devices to one local Wi-Fi network and scan a fresh QR from the receiver. Use Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android. Allow the camera and keep that page visible.
Once the receiver shows video, restart Teams if it was open during installation. This lets it refresh its device list. On a managed work computer, virtual camera installation and permissions may be controlled by your organization.
Choose picture and sound separately
- In desktop Teams, open Settings and the device settings. Select VCam as the camera if it is available.
- Choose a headset, USB or computer microphone separately. VCam currently sends video only.
- Check the preview and the meeting's pre-join screen. Evaluate Teams background effects separately from the original VCam picture.
- Use a test call for sound if your Teams version and account provide it. Labels and available controls vary.
The device selection flow is documented by Microsoft. A camera working in one Teams version does not establish compatibility with every organization-managed configuration.
Joining in a Windows browser
Allow camera access for the Teams website on the computer. This is separate from Safari or Chrome permission on the phone. Check the device chosen in the meeting and the browser's site permissions. A corporate restriction may require an administrator. See Microsoft's browser device guidance.
Find the first failing stage
- VCam is missing: restart Teams, then follow the camera installation checklist.
- VCam is listed but black: compare the phone and receiver previews before changing every meeting setting.
- Video freezes during the call: check phone screen lock and connection stability.
- Video works but audio does not: check the separate microphone and its level indicator in Teams.
Before an important meeting, prepare a fallback such as the laptop camera or joining the call directly from the phone.
